So yesterday I had my tonsils removed...I've been dreading this procedure since August but I finally just had to get it over with.
Here are some things I learned on day 1:
#1. Looking like hell is inevitable. ^
#2. Food is not an option.
#3. Swallowing is the worst, but water is a must.
#4. The liquid pain medication that the Dr. Prescribed burns when trying to take it.
#5. It will also make me itch all over so Benedryl has to accompany the pain medication into my system.
#6. Sleeping during the day was off and on, sleeping at night was more difficult, but I at least got a few hours.
#7. Chocolate milk is amazingly soothing but I can only have one glass a day.
#8. Warm tea feels alright.
#9. Sour popsicles suck.
#10. A humidifier in my room helps keep my throat moist..(gross)
#11. Jaw is stiff, opening my mouth, and moving my tongue is hard to do.
#12. My mom was looking up tips on what works best healing wise, and what soothes pain fastest, and one comment was from a lady saying she would rather go back and give birth to her two kids again than go through the pain of having her tonsils removed for a second time....
So I think that means I might know what giving birth in my throat feels like...? Congrats to me.
Overall though, I think that I did ok on the first day considering the fact that my Dr. told me multiple times how miserable I was going to be.
Will blog about day two tomorrow...So far some fun things have happened today.
