Day two after surgery was spent mostly on the couch like day one, but there were a few things different.
I learned:
#1. Don't take a shower without telling somebody that you're going to...just in case your body decides "hey let's pass out right here, right now!" Luckily I didn't completely pass out, but I came very close. My vision kept going black and fading in and out, my arms got too weak to lift, and my ears were ringing so incredibly loudly. I was able to push myself to finish showering and went as fast as I could into Becca's room begging her to get me water cause I thought I was going to pass out. She was sleeping, and I think I probably gave her a mini heart attack. She and I were the only ones at home for the morning/afternoon.
#2. My neck is swollen and stiff so putting a heating pad on it feels amazing, however, falling asleep on one right after you heat it in the microwave will result in burning your neck almost to the point of getting a blister.
#3. In the morning my Uvula, (the dangly thing in the back of your throat) was the size of the tip of my thumb, by the end of the day it had shrunk to about the size of the tip of my pointer finger. progress.
#4. Anything sweet, pudding, ice cream, cold stone milkshake, ect. that I tried stung badly.
#5. Looking in my throat is nasty...but once I did it I had to look again. It's white from being scabbed and also from all the burnt tissue (because they burn them out...) And then there are black and dark green spots that are either stitches or different scabs...or both?
#6. This may not be lady like to talk about and/or share with the world, but I'm gonna do it anyway...Starting my period on day two just sucks.
#7. Apple sauce, chicken broth, and three bites of cheesy grits were the only food that didn't hurt me.
#8. Sleeping with a humidifier is nice, because it smells fresh and has a kind of white noise element to it...but it's also like blasting an air conditioner at your head while its currently 34 degrees outside at night.
#9. I wouldn't say that I slept well during the night, but waking up every four hours to take medication is tiring...even if the sleep you're waking up from isn't the best. But I'm surviving by periodically falling asleep on the couch.
I think that's all I can think of for day two...Will blog about three tomorrow.
